What is Women of Steel?

Women of Steel began life in 2006 as a multi-media, site-specific play written by Paula Boulton to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Closure of the Steelworks in Corby, Northamptonshire.

It grew into the Stories of Steel project which ensured that the play, research materials, images and testimonies were preserved for all time as a DVD, an Audio CD and finally a book - all available for sale through this website.

The entire project has involved over seventy Corby people, aged 1 - 76 years, who have worked together to create a lasting legacy of their town's history.
